For the Kurdish people, 'Newroz' is the traditional 'new year's holiday', usually celebrated on March 21. This holiday symbolizes the beginning of spring, the awakening of nature and renewal throughout the Kurdish and many other communities in the Middle East. 'Newroz' has become not only a spring festival for Kurds, but also a powerful symbol of cultural identity and freedo. Kurdish politicians participated in the Nowruz festival.
